This beautiful Persian Kilim, from the Sanneh region is a flat weave, hand knotted rug. This vintage Kelim is made of pure wool and natural vegetable dyes. This rug was made circa 1980 and is therefore approx. 35 years old..
Senneh Kilim Rugs, produced in Northwest Persia, are prized for their fine, delicate design and their distinctive, weaving technique. These kelim rugs come in a range all-over and medallion patterns, and consequently it is their weave rather than their design that sets them apart Antique Sanneh rugs are one of the most distinctive of all Persian Rugs. Antique Senneh rugs use very tightly spun fine mountain wool. Vintage Senneh rugs are fine and durable and are most appreciated by people who know Persian Rugs.
Senneh Kelim rugs always display a precise, crisp somewhat geometric drawing that corresponds to the precision of the weave. The design consists of traditional geometric designs. Colors tend to be varied and rich, but soft as well. The main colors of this rug are yellow, blue, red.
There are many benefits to natural wool rugs. Not only are they incredibly soft and comfortable, there is also the benefit of natural wool being fire retardant, eco-friendly and biodegradable.
