Chobi rugs beautifully blend classic Persian patterns with contemporary North American style, making them an excellent choice for enhancing homes with either traditional or modern aesthetics. With their gentle hues and captivating designs, these exquisite carpets cater to diverse preferences while lending elegance to any area.
Chobi Persian-style rugs are renowned for their quality and longevity. They are crafted with exceptional skill by artisans primarily from Afghanistan and Iran. These masterpieces of textile design are made on weaving machines in towns and villages.
As a result, they possess intricate but symmetrical patterns, making them stand out amongst even other luxurious handmade varieties, such as modern Persian rugs or tribal rugs. With each warp thread delicately placed over several weft threads per knotting session, these magnificent pieces can be admired generation after generation.
Very popular in the Western world for their modern design, Chobi Kilim rugs incorporate the antique and muted look of natural wood colour, meshing perfectly with contemporary homes. Our marvellous Chobi rug collection includes unique geometric patterns that flawlessly complement modern and traditional furniture.
Chobi rugs are handmade carpets that originate from Afghanistan and to a lesser extent, the NWFP region of the Afghanistan/Pakistan border. The term “Chobi” has been in use since the displacement and return of refugees during and after the Soviet Afghan war in the 1980s. Prior to this, traditional all-wool weaving was almost exclusively based on Turkmen designs with an all-wool structure in red tones, as seen in Afghan rugs. It’s important to note that Chobi rugs should not be confused with imitative Pakistani poly-chrome products, such as “Princess Bokhara.”
